Catching up with my collection - 9

Continuing on with cards from 2017, which will include another rookie Quarterback.

Two autographs of rookies in this photo.

The card on the left is of Caleb Brantley, a Defensive Tackle that was drafted out of Florida in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. This card is a Rookie Reflex Signatures insert card, numbered out of 325, from 2017 Panini Absolute.

The card on the right is of Matthew Dayes, a Running Back from NC State, who was drafted by the Browns in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. This is his base card from 2017 Panini Contenders.

To go along with his rookie year cards from the last post, here are more Corey Coleman cards that I've added to my collection.

The top card is a Tools of the Trade Quad insert card, numbered out of 49, from 2017 Panini Absolute. I'm not really sure what the memorabilia piece is in the bottom left corner.

The bottom card is a Century Materials insert card, numbered out of 99, from 2017 Panini National Treasures.

The card on the left, numbered out of 199, is a Monumental Memorabilia insert card from 2017 Panini Spectra. It sure is a big, but boring swatch.

The card on the right is a base card from 2017 Panini Vortex.

The top card is a base rookie card from 2017 Panini Playoff of Myles Garrett, the first overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The bottom card is of Kicker Zane Gonzalez, who the Browns drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He set a NCAA Division I record for field goals made in a career with Arizona State. He was a unanimous All-American, and the winner of the Lou Groza Award for the top college placekicker in 2016.

Gonzalez was successful on 75% of his field goals, and was 25 out of 26 extra points in his rookie season.

Unfortunately, he was only successful on 2 of 5 field goals, and 3 of 5 extra points in the Browns first two games of the 2018 season. Both games could have been won with successful kicks. He was waived by the Browns after the second loss.

This card is an Autographs insert card from the college 2017 SAGE HIT set.

Another Duke Johnson card in the top of this photo. It is a Rising Stars insert from 2017 Panini Prestige.

The bottom card is a Cody Kessler Immense Materials Neon Blue insert card, numbered out of 99, from 2017 Panini Spectra.

Which brings this post to the 2017 rookie quarterback.

DeShone Kizer was a Notre Dame quarterback that was drafted by the Browns in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After winning the starting job in training camp, Kizer started 15 of the 16 games during the winless 2017 season. He was then traded to the Packers in March 2018.

The card on the left is his Rookie Phenom Jerseys insert card from 2017 Donruss. The middle card is the same insert card from 2017 Donruss Optic, while the card on the right is a Rookie Threads insert card from 2017 Donruss Optic.

The top card is a Rookie Ticket Swatches Variation insert card from 2017 Panini Contenders.

The bottom card is a Jumbo Rookie Silhouettes Jerseys insert card from 2017 Panini Crown Royale.

I picked up three different DeShone Kizer memorabilia cards from 2017 Panini Encased, each numbered out of 49.

The top card here is a Rookie Quad Memorabilia insert card, while the bottom card is a Substantial Rookie Swatches insert card.

The card on the right is the third memorabilia card from 2017 Panini Encased. It is a Rookie Triple Memorabilia insert card.

The card on the right is a Newly Minted Memorabilia insert card, numbered out of 199, from 2017 Panini Gold Standard.

These two cards are from 2017 Panini Origins. The card on the left is a Rookie Patches insert card, numbered out of 175, while the card on the right is a Rookie Patches Blue parallel of the previous card, numbered out of 49.

The following four cards are also from the same set. There is a regular memorabilia insert card along with three parallels of it.

The top card is a Rookie Jumbo Jerseys insert card, numbered out of 199, from 2017 Panini Origins, while the bottom card is a Rookie Jumbo Jerseys Blue parallel, numbered out of 49.

Continuing with the colored parallels, the top card is a Rookie Jumbo Jerseys Orange parallel, numbered out of 75, while the bottom card is a Rookie Jumbo Jerseys Red parallel, numbered out of 99.

Moving on to different sets, the card on the left is a Prizm Premier Jerseys insert card from 2017 Panini Prizm.

The card on the right is a Rookie Jumbo Materials insert card, numbered out of 75, from the 2017 Panini XR set.

I like the background of the top card, a Rookie Stallions Hail Mary insert card from 2017 Panini Playoff. I almost think that I would prefer the card without a swatch in it.

The bottom card is of David Njoku, the third of the Browns first round picks in the 2017 NFL Draft, pick number 29 out of Miami. Njoku recently suffered burns to his face and arms at home after an accident lighting his fire pit.

This card is a Startups insert card, numbered out of 99, from 2017 Panini Vortex.

I went to two Browns games during their winless 2017 season. I saw them lose at home, 12-9 in overtime to the Titans, in what turned out to be Joe Thomas' last game, and then again in Detroit, where they lost 38-24 after jumping out to a 10-0 lead.

  1. Yup, don't recall Kizer at all. You've got to be in the top 2 of best Kizer collections.

I don't know what that one relic item is on the Coleman card either. Doesn't seem like something worn.

  2. I was thinking that mystery piece of relic might be part of an undergarment, one of stretchy moisture-wicking dealies. I'm not overly familiar with such things though, so who knows...
