Catching up with my collection - 8

I've still got a few more posts after this to catch up on cards that I've added to my collection over the last year or so. These are cards from 2016.

Tight End Gary Barnidge starts the post off in the top card with a Red parallel from 2016 Panini Origins.

Shon Coleman, whose high school card appeared with the 2010 cards, was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and has this Autographs insert card from the college 2016 SAGE HIT set.

Corey Coleman was drafted by the Browns, out of Baylor, with the fifteenth pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played two seasons with the Browns, and at the start of his third season, the Browns pre-season was shown in the television show Hard Knocks. During Hard Knocks, he asked to be traded, and was traded to the Bills for a 2020 seventh round pick.

The card on the left is a Rookie Phenom Jersey Relics insert card from 2016 Donruss, while the card on the right is a Rookie Force Materials Blue insert card from 2016 Panini Absolute.

The top card gives me a different type of swatch in a Tools of the Trade insert card, numbered out of 49, from 2016 Panini Black Friday. It is a piece of a towel.

The bottom card is a Gold Prospecting Quad Materials insert card, numbered out of 249, from 2016 Panini Black Gold. The shadow in the bottom left of the card is from my phone as I was taking the picture. I didn't notice it until I uploaded it into this post. Oops.

Here are a couple of cards, both numbered out of 49, from 2016 Panini Encased.

The top card is a Substantial Rookie Swatches insert card, while the bottom card is a Rookie Quad Memorabilia insert card.

I like the fact that Panini puts the name of the inserts on the front of these cards.

On the left is a RPS Rookie Materials insert card, numbered out of 288, from 2016 Panini Infinity.

The card on the right is shared with Baylor teammate Bryce Petty. It is a Friends and Foes Quads insert card, numbered out of 99, from 2016 Panini National Treasures. Nice dark swatches in all four places on the card that makes them hard to see in this photo.

I added to my collection of booklets with this National History Booklet, numbered out of 49, from 2016 Panini National Treasures. Two cards in a row showing Coleman with Baylor and Cleveland.

A nice piece of a footbal in the top card, a Hot Rookie Material Signature insert card from 2016 Panini Phoenix, numbered out of 99.

The bottom card is a Cross Training Relics insert card, numbered out of 75, from 2016 Panini Rookies & Stars. It is an interesting concept for the card with his 40-yard dash, and vertical jump statistics, but has two boring swatches in the card.

Moving to Joe Haden with the top card, it is a Monumental Memorabilia Neon Blue insert card, numbered out of 99, from 2016 Panini Spectra. There is a white swatch in there. It isn't just a white cardboard background.

The bottom two cards are of Rashard "Hollywood" Higgins, a fifth round Draft Pick in the 2016 NFL Draft from Colorado State. Higgins played six seasons with the Browns, catching 137 passes for 1890 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The card on the left is an Autographs Prizm Camo insert card, numbered out of 199, out of the college 2016 Panini Prizm Collegiate Draft Picks set.

The card on the right is a Rookies Signatures insert card from 2016 Panini Prestige.

The new rookie quarterback for the 2016 season was Cody Kessler, drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of USC.

The cards on the left and in the middle are from 2016 Donruss, with the first being a Rookie Phenom Jersey Relics insert card, and the second being a Red Foil parallel of the first card.

The card on the right is a Rookie Threads Blue and Green insert card from the 2016 Donruss Optic set.

The card on the left is a Turn of the Century Autographs Green insert card from 2016 Donruss Elite, while the card on the right is a Rookie Force Materials insert card, numbered out of 99, from 2016 Panini Absolute.

The card on the left is a Rookie Ticket Swatches Vertical insert card from 2016 Panini Contenders. Yes, they also have Rookie Ticket Swatches Horizontal insert cards as well.

I like the swatch in the card on the right, a RPS Rookie Memorabilia Jumbo Orange insert card from 2016 Panini Phoenix.

The top card is a Rookie Stallions Relics Kickoff insert card from 2016 Panini Playoff. It is numbered out of 49.

The card on the bottom is a Mammoth Materials insert card, numbered out of 199, from 2016 Panini Playbook.

The card on the left is a Prizm Premier Jerseys Pink inbsert card from 2016 Panini Prizm, while the card on the right is a RPS Rookie Materials insert card, numbered out of 299, from 2016 Panini Unparalleled.

Ricardo Louis was drafted by the Browns in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, out of Auburn.

The card on the left is a Rookie Threads Red Foil insert card from 2016 Donruss.

The card in the middle is also from 2016 Donruss. It is a Rookie Phenom Jersey Relics insert card.

The card on the right is a Rookie Threads Blue and Green insert card from 2016 Donruss Optic.

More Ricardo Louis memorabila cards with the card on the left being a New Generation Jerseys Orange insert card, numbered out of 399, from 2016 Panini Certified, and the card on the right a Clear Cloth Jersey insert card, numbered out of 99, from 2016 Panini Clear Vision.

The top card is Ricardo Louis' base card from 2016 Panini Contenders, while the bottom card is the Rookie Ticket Swatches Horizontal insert card from the same set. (Remember the vertical swatch of Cody Kessler earlier?)

The card on the left is a Star Search Memorabilia insert card from 2016 Panini Rookies & Stars.

The card on the right is a RPS Rookie Materials insert card, numbered out of 299, from 2016 Panini Unparalleled. Although I love the Browns helmets, I like seeing some cards like this with the player's face completely visible.

Fullback Dan Vitale was drafted by Tampa Bay in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, but was signed off their practice roster by the Browns in October 2016. He played nine games with the Browns in 2016, and then played with them for the 2017 season.

Dan Vitale played for Northwestern in college, and this is his Autographs insert card from the 2016 SAGE HIT set.

Scooby Wright III was drafted by the Browns, out of Arizona, in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. After training camp, he was signed to the Browns practice squad. The Arizona Cardinals signed him away from the Browns in December 2016.

Too bad he didn't stay with the Browns. I was looking forward to cheering for a Scooby.

The bottom card is an Elite Rookie Autographs Green insert card from 2016 Donruss Elite.

  1. Some great looking cards here, especially your Coleman collection!

Oddly enough, my sister was married to a guy named Dan Vitale for about 20 years. Not the same one though, obviously!

    1. Easier to get a number of cards of first round picks for cheaper when they didn't have careers that matched their draft position.

I've known a few people with same names as professional athletes. Always fun to see.

  2. I know that they're probably fun for player/team collectors but, I will never understand the appeal of relic cards that feature pieces of a towel, Santa hat, etc. that the player worn just long enough for a couple of photos to be shot for the card that the relic will be embedded in.
