A few different things pop to mind when I think of Tony at Off Hiatus Baseball Cards.
1. a like of oddball cards
2. empathy at cheering for a team that hasn't won a championship in our lifetimes
3. music videos in his posts
So when Tony sent me a PWE the other day, I knew that I would have to find some music to accompany it.
Here is the card:
1999 Upper Deck Retro - Inkredible #TC |
However, this card is only my second autographed Couch card, and the other card wasn't from his rookie season. This card probably cost a pretty penny when it came out, and I'm sure the person that pulled it was thrilled to get an autograph of the #1 pick of the draft!
Looking at this autograph, it looks like a mess. Since there is a lack of cards in this post, I might as well compare it to the other Couch autograph that I have.
2003 SP Signature - Autographs Green Ink #TC |
Looking at the two, you can see the "T" with the swoop on both cards, but the "Couch" part of the autograph is actually distinct in the second autograph, as is the number "2". I don't know if that is supposed to be a number on the first card. At least the first one is on card.Oh, wait, I promised music!
One of my earlier wallet card posts revealed that I am a curler. When I play, I generally curl in one of my Browns jerseys. I mean, I have to wear them somewhere. When I wear my Tim Couch jersey people often originally call out to me, "Hey, Couch potato!", which leads me into our song for this post - Couch Potato by "Weird Al" Yankovic (2003), a parody of Eminem's Lose Yourself.
Tony, thanks for the card, it is greatly appreciated. I'm still not sure if I should be thanking you or not for the hour and a half I spent watching and listening to "Weird Al" after looking up the link for this post. Who am I kidding? Of course I loved it! Thanks for that too!
I'm still not sure which "Weird Al" song describes me best, White and Nerdy, or Canadian Idiot. Oh, and in a way I wish I could unsee Perform This Way.
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for anyone else spending too much time watching "Weird Al" videos after reading this post.
That happens to me every time I look up a Weird Al song as well; it's like a sickness. By the way, nice Couch!
ReplyDeleteNo unseeing that! It will haunt your dreams
ReplyDeleteI'm legitimately speechless at this post. I almost commented yesterday, but I got sidetracked watching "Weird Al" videos. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you needed this card!
