Catching up with my collection - 5

One good thing about actually getting these posts out is that I can then go ahead and add the cards into the binders or boxes where they belong in my collection. So I'm going to continue with some cards from 2011 and 2012.

On the left is a Josh Cribbs card from the Threads insert set of 2011 Panini Limited. It is numbered out of 99.

Along with being one of the best returners in the game, Cribbs was also used in the Browns version of the wildcat offense. I have no idea what made me think of the wildcat offense just now.

On the right is a Peyton Hillis card from the Blue Materials insert set from 2011 Panini Totally Certified. It is also numbered out of 99.

I am very happy that Peyton Hillis appears to have recovered from being unconscious for 10 days following his rescue of his niece and son from a riptide at a Florida beach in January.

Here are a couple of Greg Little autograph cards.

On the left is an Autographs insert card from 2011 Bowman Sterling, while on the right is a his autographed card in the 2011 Panini Crown Royale base seet, numbered out of 299.

Greg Little was drafted by the Browns out of North Carolina in the 2nd round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Here are a couple more Greg Little cards.

I like the swatch in the Future Materials Prime insert card from 2011 Panini Totally Certified. It is numbered out of 49.

I'm not sure how many autographs I own of Greg Little, but this one is from the Rookie Autographs Gold insert set from 2011 Topps Prime, and is numbered out of 50. Don't you love that autograph? So nice and legible.

Here is a base card, numbered out of 499, of Colt McCoy from 2011 Panini Timeless Treasures.

In 2011, I went to a day of Browns training camp and wanted to buy a replica jersey while there. I bought a Colt McCoy jersey after narrowing my choices to that or a Peyton Hillis jersey.

Here is a base autographed card, numbered out of 99, of Buster Skrine from 2011 Panini National Treasures.

Sadly, Buster Skrine was charged with multiple counts of fraud in the Toronto area earlier this summer.

Nose tackle Phil Taylor was drafted by the Browns in the 1st round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Baylor. I added two more of his autographed cards to my collection. He played four seasons with the Browns.

The top card is a Turn of the Century Autographs insert card, numbered out of 499, from 2011 Donruss Elite.

The bottom card is a Monikers Autographs Silver insert card from 2011 Panini Limited, numbered out of 199.

The 2012 cards in this post start with three autographs of The Rabbit, Travis Benjamin. (And I know that you can make out that name in his autograph above.)

The card on the left is from the base set of 2012 Panini Contenders, while the middle card is a Rookie Autographs Bronze insert card, numbered out of 150 from 2012 Topps Strata. The card on the right is a Rookie Autographs insert card, numbered out of 286, from 2012 Topps Prime.

Travis Benjamin was drafted in the 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft, out of Miami. He played four seasons with the Browns and had 10 receiving touchdowns, and 3 punt return touchdowns in that time.

I would have been really happy pulling all of these Trent Richardson cards during his rookie season. I had such high hopes for him at running back. And, really, I can't believe that it has been eleven years since he was drafted.

The top card is a Rookie Relics Prism Refractors insert card, numbered out of 47, from 2012 Bowman Sterling. I love the multi-colored swatch in it.

The bottom card, also from 2012 Bowman Sterling, is a Jumbo Rookie Patch, numbered out of 99. The boring swatch is somewhat saved by the hard to notice stitching on the left of the swatch.

The top card doesn't have any stitching on the swatch. It is a Rookie Crusade Materials Red insert card, numbered out of 199, from 2012 Panini Rookies & Stars.

The bottom card is a base rookie card from 2012 Topps Valor, numbered out of 170. I've always liked the Topps Valor cards.

Obviously, I would have been happy to pull these Brandon Weeden cards as well from 2012 sets, but I had a lot higher expectations for Richardson over Weeden.

The top card is a Certified Skills Materials insert card, numbered out of 299, from 2012 Panini Certified.

The bottom left card is a New Breed Jerseys insert card from 2012 Panini Elite, while the bottom right card is a Rookie Gridiron Kings Jersey insert card from 2012 Panini Gridiron. Both bottom cards are also numbered out of 299.

The top card is quite thick, with a little bit of chipping on the edges, and is from the Rookie Relics Patch Gold insert set from 2012 Topps Inception. You can see that it is numbered out of 50.

The bottom card is a Rookie Jumbo Relics insert card, numbered out of 99, from 2012 Topps Triple Threads.

These 2012 additions to my collection will finish with a couple of autographed cards of Billy Winn, a 6th round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft from Boise State. He played three seasons with the Browns.

As you can see, both cards are from the same set, 2012 Press Pass Sports Town. The top card, numbered out of 149, is from the base set, while the bottom card, numbered out of 75 is a Red parallel.

Catching up with my collection - 4

 Continuing to catch up with cards that I've added to my collection.

Moving into some cards from 2010, the top card is an Inside the Numbers Materials insert card of Josh Cribbs from the 2010 Panini Prestige set.

I loved watching Cribbs as a returner. You had to pay attention in case he were to break one for a touchdown.

The bottom card is one that I had to think of as to whether to add it to my collection.

My collection generally consists of Browns cards, college cards of players that the Browns draft, and usually college cards of a Browns player that comes out the year that a player is on the Browns. (For example, when Odell Beckham Jr. played for the Browns, I would collect LSU cards of him during those seasons. I didn't collect LSU cards of him during his early seasons when he was a Giant.)

The bottom card, however, is from a high school All-American set. 

Shon Coleman was drafted by the Browns, out of Auburn, in the 3rd round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

In the end, since the card was there, and wasn't expensive, I figured I would add it to my collection. It is an odd situation, but adds something a little bit different to my collection.

The card is an Autographs insert card of Shon Colemnan from the 2010 Razor US Army All-American Bowl set. At the time, he played for the Oliver Branch High School Conquistadors from Olive Branch, Mississippi.

This Joe Haden card is one of those that I had a lower numbered version of it before the higher number. This Draft Day Jerseys insert card from the 2010 Panini Limited set is numbered out of 100. I have owned the Prime version of this card, numbered out of 50, for a few years.

The card looked familiar, and if I hadn't have looked it up on The Trading Card Database, I would have passed on buying it because I thought I owned it already.

Time to begin the Montario Hardesty portion of this post.

Montario Hardesty was drafted by the Browns, out of Tennessee, in the 2nd round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Oh, Bowman Sterling, what are you doing?

There can be multiple copies of the same player in the base set, some autographed, some memorabilia, and some autographed memorabilia cards, and then they make the parallels of all of them.

The card to the left is the regular memorabilia card from the 2010 Bowman Sterling set, while the middle one is the Refractor of the same card, numbered out of 299, and the one on the right is the Blue Refractor of the same card, numbered out of 99.

These two cards are from the 2010 Panini Classics set.

The card on the left is from the Significant Signatures Gold insert set, and is numbered out of 399.

The card on the right is from the Team Colors Materials insert set, and is numbered out of 299.

The top two cards are from the 2010 Panini Rookies & Stars set. 

The card on the left is a Dress for Success Jerseys insert card, numbered out of 299.

The card on the right is a Freshman Orientation Materials Jerseys Autographs insert card, numbered out of 100.

The bottom card is from the 2010 Panini Rookies & Stars Longevity set. (Yes, Panini likes putting out similarly named sets like that.) It is from the Crosstraining Materials insert set, and numbered out of 250.

Earlier this year, I received a great package from Dennis of the Too Many Verlanders blog.

In the package, the was a great 2010 Playoff National Treasures card of Montario Hardesty. It had two memorabilia pieces, one part of a football, the other a piece of jersey. It was a NFL Gear insert card. It looked just like the one above.

That card was numbered out of 25. This one is out of 49.

This card out of 49 is considered to be the NFL Gear Prime card. I don't know why the Prime card has a higher number than the regular one.

Anyway, I like the card so having two that are slightly different is all good to me.

Here are a couple of cards from the 2010 Topps Prime set.

The top card is a Rookie Relics insert card, numbered out of 420.

The bottom card is named a Autographed Relics Level 5 insert card, numbered out of 499. (I guess we need to classify these things, but some of these names are a little ridiculous.)

Looking at those four pieces of jersey, one might almost think it was just one long strip in there, except I guess the holes in the jersey don't line up nicely enough for that. Kind of silly to put four small pieces in there that look the exact same.

The top card here is from the 2010 Topps Tribute set. It is numbered out of 30, and is part of the Relic Dual Swatch Blue insert set.

The bottom card, from 2010 Topps Triple Threads, is part of the refreshingly named Relics insert set. As you can see, it is numbered out of 36, and has two different parts of a jersey out of the three swatches.

Here are a couple of Mohamed Massaquoi cards for a change of pace. Don't worry, Montario Hardesty will reappear later in the post.

The card to the left is a Mirror Blue Materials insert card, numbered out of 100, from the 2010 Panini Certified set.

The card to the right is from the Rookie Review Materials insert set from 2010 Panini Prestige.

Colt McCoy was a 3rd Round pick of the Browns, out of Texas, in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The top card is a Rookie Blitz Materials insert card from 2010 Panini Plates & Patches. It is numbered out of 299.

The bottom card is a Freshman Orientation Materials Jerseys insert card from the 2010 Panini Rookies & Stars set. It is also numbered out of 299.

The bottom McCoy card is from the Dress for Success Jerseys insert set, and again numbered out of 249.

The top card here has Colt McCoy again sharing a card with Montario Hardesty. It is from the 2010 Panini Threads - Rookie Collection Materials Combo insert set, and is numbered out of 299.

The bottom Colt McCoy card is an insert card from 2010 Topps. It is a Peak Performance Relics insert card. On the back of the card, it describes, as his peak performance, a game against Texas A&M in 2009 that he won 49-39 after passing for 304 yards with four touchdowns, and rushing for 175 yards and a touchdown.

The top Colt McCoy card is from the Rookie Relics insert set, and numbered out of 420.

The bottom card of McCoy with Montario Hardesty, is from the 2nd Quarter Relics insert set, and numbered out of 355.

It almost feels like a bit of a letdown to finish these 2010 cards with a 2010 Bowman Sterling card of Carlton Mitchell. It is the regular memorabilia card from the checklist.

Carlton Mitchell was a 6th round draft pick of the Browns, out of South Florida, in the 2010 NFL Draft.

In a local note, Carlton Mitchell was drafted by the Ottawa REDBLACKS in their 2013 expansion draft, and played eight games with them in 2014.

Catching up with my collection - 3

I started to catch up with cards that I have acquired for my Browns collection, but paused when I made a trip to Arizona a while ago to help close my mother's home there after it sold.

I met up with Daniel there, and he gave me some cards that I still have to post.

However, since I have some photos of cards that I've added to my collection ready to go, I'll continue showing some of these cards.

This Braylon Edwards card is from the 2007 Fleer Ultra - Feel the Game Jerseys insert set.

I like Braylon Edwards' smile in the photo on the card. I guess for a while he was happy with the Browns.

The patch on the jersey was celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Browns franchise, and has both the white and orange helmets on it. A white helmet was brought back as an alternate helmet for the Browns this year, and was worn on last week's Monday Night Football game against the Steelers.

Here are two different versions of inserts from the 2007 Upper Deck Artifacts set.

The top card is from the AFC Apparel Patch insert set, and is numbered out of 50.

The bottom card is from the AFC Apparel Gold insert set, and is numbered out of 99.

I was a big Brady Quinn fan, partly because I grew up as a Notre Dame fan. I like cards like the one to the left that can combine my Browns and Notre Dame fandom in my collection.

The Brady Quinn card is from the College Materials insert set from 2007 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia, and is numbered out of 100.

The card to the right is from the 2007 SP Authentic set. It is an autographed rookie card of Eric Wright, numbered out of 1199. Wright was drafted in the 2nd round, out of UNLV, and played four seasons with the Browns.

Derek Anderson almost led the Browns to the playoffs in the 2007 season. They missed out with a 10-6 record.

This card is from the Winning Materials insert set from the 2008 SPx set, and is numbered out of 149.

Here are two more memorabilia cards of Derek Anderson, with the one on the left from the 2008 Donruss Elite - Stars Jerseys Silver insert set, numbered out of 199.

The card on the right is from the Pro Gridiron Kings Materials insert set from 2008 Donruss Threads, and is numbered out of 250.

The top card is a Braylon Edwards card from 2009 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia. It is from the Absolute Heroes Materials Spectrum Prime insert set, and is numbered out of 50.

The bottom card is an autographed rookie card, numbered out of 999, from the 2009 SP Authentic base set. The card is of Kaluka Maiava, a nephew of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Maiava was a 4th round pick of the Browns out of USC. He played four seasons with the Browns before moving on to the Oakland Raiders.

Here are a couple of different cards of one of the three Browns 2nd round draft picks from the 2009 NFL Draft. Mohamed Massaquoi was their second receiver drafted in the round, at pick number 50, out of Georgia.

The top card is from the 2009 Bowman Sterling set, and is numbered out of 749, while the bottom card is from a college card set, 2009 Press Pass SE. It is from the Gridiron Graphs Gold insert set.

Brian Robiskie was also drafted in the 2nd round of the 2009 NFL Draft, drafted at number 36, out of Ohio State. His father Terry was a coach with the Browns from 2001-2006, including a short stint as the interim head coach in 2004.

The top card is from the Relics insert set from 2009 Topps National Chicle.

The bottom card is from the Autographs insert set of the college 2009 SAGE HIT set.

The Brady Quinn card above is from the Jerseys Prime insert set of 2009 Donruss Threads, and is numbered out of 25.

The bottom card of David Veikune is also from the Autographs insert set of the college 2009 SAGE HIT set. Veikune was the third of the Browns 2nd round draft picks from the 2009 NFL Draft. He was drafted with the 52nd pick, out of Hawaii.

Veikune played in ten games of the 2009 season, before tearing his MCL during the last practice of the season. He was waived by the Browns in September 2010 and signed with Denver in November.
